Kansas City Reparations Proposal Downplayed On MLK Day

This evening local faith communities rally for a controversial proposal in the name of civil rights leader.

To wit and even awarding taxpayer cash based on racial designations might not represent any kind of equitable or sustainable practice for government . . .

KANSAS CITY MLK EVENTS RALLY FOR SLAVERY REPARATIONS DESPITE WIDESPREAD OPPOSITION TO THIS PROPOSAL!!!

In Red State Missouri there is every little support for funding this policy and that's why local news would rather focus on upbeat and "on message" displays of civic unity on this federal holiday.

Would MLK support cash reparations?!?! The idea would've seemed preposterous when he was alive in much the same way that the King fam cashing in on Super Bowl ads is also kinda cringe-y

However . . .

KICK-ASS TKC READERS shouldn't forget that KCMO proposals for reparations remain under consideration at 12th & Oak whilst and public meetings on the topic continue without much notice or fanfare from disengaged voters.

And so we'll pull this quote to offer more perspective along with additional & worthwhile news links on local MLK Day celebration:

A Special Homecoming – This occasion will be illuminated by the insights of Ajamu Webster, a distinguished engineer and community leader, freshly returned from Ghana, West Africa.

As the keynote speaker, Mr. Webster brings a wealth of knowledge and an impassioned call for progress, reparations and more – connecting the African diaspora’s experiences to our collective journey towards justice.

A Legacy of Leadership – Hosted by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Kansas City, under the guidance of Dr. Vernon Howard, a venerated leader in the quest for justice, this celebration is more than an event – it is a call to action.

The event is a rallying point for those who stand against the tides of oppression and instead for the liberation of Black people.
