The popular destination downtown reopened just moments ago and right now police are sending more info regarding the ongoing investigation.

From our vantage, here's a fact that stands out . . . Counting a security officer AND a mall patron

There were AT LEAST four people firing weapons during this Kansas City gun battle.

We'll save our commentary on this topic for another time. Sharing the info is more important right now.

Here's the best update sent to all local media and our www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community . . .

Re: Crown Center

There have been no changes to the status of the victims, they all are recovering from their injures and we continue to hear that all the injuries are thought to be non-life threatening.

There were multiple people detained at the scene last night for further investigation. Of those, one was taken into custody for an investigative hold (24 hour investigation). That person has since been released pending further investigation.

Detectives have been and will continue to be in touch with prosecutors to share investigative findings with them so they can made decisions about applicable charges when appropriate.

Detectives need the public’s help from anyone who may have seen anything or has information that has not already been in touch with them to help identify anyone who may have been involved in this incident.

Of note, investigation indicates that there were two additional people that were in the area at the time, not related to the altercation, that fired weapons in response to the original gunshots.  Those people are both identified, have spoken with detectives, and are cooperating fully with investgators. One of those people was a visitor to the center that was in the food court area, and another was an employee of crown center working security.
