Kansas City Low-Barrier Shelter Doesn't Yet Live Up To HUD Requirements

Here's a bit more insight into the low-barrier shelter hot mess that deserves to be featured.

INSIDERS WARN THAT KANSAS CITY FUNDING FAILS TO LIVE UP TO HUD REQUIREMENTS!!!

Here's a peek at the behind the scenes discussion . . .

"The shelter as awarded by the City will be congregate - not non-congregate. They had asked for a waiver from the HUD federal requirements that the low-barrier shelter be non-congregate; that waiver request was denied by the HUD Regional Office and is now pending before the HUD office in DC.

Again, a quick definition of terms . . .

"Non-congregate shelter is the term used for emergency shelters that provide accommodations in a way that provides private space for guests. Non-congregate shelter is generally provided via motel rooms and is a proven way to limit the spread of COVID 19 among people experiencing houselessness."

And that's something worthwhile that's something import for our www.TonysKansasCity.com to consider . . .

A quick translation of the info above . . .

THE UPCOMING KANSAS CITY LOW-BARRIER SHELTER SOUNDS LIKE A HELLSCAPE IN THE MAKING!!!

A the very least, it's a place the seems barely better than life on the streets.

Moreover . . .

This effort doesn't seem to be very well thought out AND the rush to allot the funding is indicative of so many poor choices by the current administration when it comes to the continued KCMO homeless crisis.
