Kansas City 2024 Homicide #4: Deadly Gunfire Erupts On East Side

The arctic freeze of gun violence in Kansas City seems to be over as the weekend starts with a spate of shooting.

Here is the first report . . . 

Homicide 3600 block of E 58th St.

Tonight just after 6pm officers were dispatched to 58th and Swope pkwy on a disturbance/nature unknown.

On arrival officers were led to the front of the convenience store, just outside, to the victim, an unresponsive adult male who appeared to have been shot.

Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS into the scene. EMS declared the victim deceased at the scene.

People who were at the scene when police arrived told officers there was an argument inside the business between the victim and at least one other person. That argument escalated and shots were fired, and the victim was struck.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence, canvassing for witnesses and speaking to people who were at the scene.

There is not anyone in custody at this time and there is not any suspect information.

The shooting was reported just after 6 p.m. in the area of E. 58th Street and Swope Parkway.
