Jackson County Exec & Legislator Marshall Opt Out Of Stadium Meet

Behind the scenes . . .

Infighting continues to plauge Jackson County discussions of a new dowtown stadium and the sales tax to support it.

Again . . . Insiders told our TKC blog community first . . . The January 23rd deadline looms and we're coming down to the wire.

The www.TonysKansasCity.com basics . . .

LEGISLATOR MEGAN MARSHALL & EXEC FRANK WHITE WON'T BE ATTENDING TODAY'S PUBLIC CONVERSATION!!!

But let's take a closer look at the sitch given a firestorm of e-mails going back and forth, all over the courthouse and eventually falling into our filthy hands . . .

First and foremost . . . Legislator Marshall wanted some time to speak but then, strangely opted out according to the e-mail chain . . .

Remember . . . This meetup was noticed up, reported on by the news and it's actually the 2nd meeting and has earned more than a bit of public interest  . . . Even from critics of the project.

And that brings us to a bigger revelation . . .

The Jackson County Exec's right hand man Caleb Clifford put his stamp on the chain with a passive aggressive note that promises more deets but seems to hint that "scheduling difficulties" will keep the Exec from attending.

TKC Question: It's kinda cold for Exec Frank White to play golf isn't it???

(Kidding . . . Sorta.)

Meanwhile . . . A snarky fun-fact that we're neither endorsing nor condoning . . . Merely reporting/blogging:

DID YOU KNOW THEY CALL LEGISLATOR MARSHALL "CAPTAIN MARVEL" BEHIND HER BACK?!?

Ouch.

Local politics can be cruel . . . TKC has been called much worse but we gotta admit that's kinda clever and speaks to criticism of the sometimes too forthright Lee's Summit legislator who chronically spars with colleagues.

But enough gossip . . . Here's the real deal perspective that pertain to important taxpayer info . . .

"The Exec's office is trying to offload the Royals, while keeping a county wide sales tax to fund a downtown stadium. Dooming the effort and ballot from the start while the Royals are seriously considering a location change."

Again . . . Here's the upshot . . .

TEAM FRANK SEEMS DEDICATED TO TANKING ANY JACKSON COUNTY DEAL WITH THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS!!!

From what we've seen & heard . . . Team Frank is NOT NEGOTIATING SERIOUSLY WITH THE HOME TEAM and mostly serves as an impediment to keeping the Royals in town.

And now . . . He has seemingly garnered a newfound ally in Legislator Marshall.

Developing . . .
