Remember Kansas City Chiefs 1971 Christmas Heartbreak

By all accounts Christmas 1971 was one of the most important games ever played by the Kansas City Chiefs.

It was a heartbreaking loss, an end of an era and a sign of changing times. 

We don't know if today's game will live up to this iconic contest. 

What we do know is that right now KCMO is once again confronting stadium transition just like 1971. 

Any real KC football fan knows a great deal of this moment in Kansas City American folklore.

And so we take a moment to remember . . .

"The setting was Kansas City Municipal Stadium. The battle was the 1971 AFC Divisional Playoffs, a clash between the Dolphins and Chiefs. It would be the final game played at that venue by Hank Stram’s club. It would also prove to be one of the most fabled contests in league history."
