Kansas City Starbucks On 41st & Main Stays Winning Union Fight

For about five years this place was the de facto office of TKC and the hobos kept us entertained between posts and meetups. 

After COVID there was a fancy new redesign and more effort into keeping the place clean, which, of course, inspired your 2nd favorite blogger to find a different place to type when not in the basement.

Reality check: Today's labor victory that MIGHT or MIGHT NOT inspire the same kind of shut down that occurred on The Plaza . . . Amid union fighting, mostly peaceful protest and continued violence.

 Check-it:

Employees at the 41st and Main location voted 18-13 Friday to join Starbucks Workers United, an affiliate of the Workers United union.

Four other Starbucks in the Kansas City area -- locations in Overland Park, Independence, Lawrence and Kansas City's Crown Center -- have also unionized recently.

The Starbucks store on the County Club Plaza was one of the first stores in the Kansas City area that tried to unionize, but the vote was a tie, which counts as a loss. The company later closed the location, citing safety concerns.

Employees at the 41st and Main Starbucks location voted Friday to unionize, joining over 370 stores across the country in organizing.
