Kansas City Mayor Q Shares 'Regionalism' Moment Of Doubt

Call it holiday cheer without the spiked egg nog . . . But TKC has to grant that Mayor Q has a valid point about the benefits of "regionalism" -- A sketchy political stance that has been embraced by KC Mayors unquestioningly since the 90s.

Real talk . . .

Consider the efficacy of "regionalism" given so many locals who bemoan record KCMO violence and bloody "blue city" trends from a safe distance in the suburbs.

Translation: Only locals who don't have any concept of history mistakenly believe that there's alliance betwixt the suburbs & KC proper.

We'll read between the lines after we share the quote for those who haven't seen it yet . . .

Check the mayor's latest perspective on our nearby local government partners . . .

"I grew up going to school on the state line, made much of my professional career in Lawrence, and have more family in Grandview than I can keep track of.  I'll always love this region and its many parts.  But, some days I have to question "regionalism."

"It seems at times if it's not the City paying for something (parades, World Cup), then it's about the impediments to improvements that can help  our poorest (fares) or the broadest set (911 delay), or simply saying Kansas City alone can solve something (affordable housing)"

Now . . .

Close readers of www.TonysKansasCity.com can't help but think that this rare show of frustration MIGHT be a sign that stadium negotiations aren't going well and there is, in fact, a very real chance that one or both of our pro teams might be leaving to nearby locations . . .We'll have more on that later.
