Today we couldn't disagree more with KC's most prolific writer on faith & morals.
How we understand his argument: Holy Land conflict prevents coherent conversation of heated feelings.
Our counterpoint: There is no holy war in the U.S. and we're confronted with college students and all manner of extremists overreacting to what they're watching on TV. The problem: Some of them are reacting violently and/or giving voice to unacceptable hateration. Waiting to confront these misguided responses isn't an option when they often threaten innocent people. Moreover, this argument seems more like ransom: "We can't talk until a ceasefire."
Most importantly . . . Blogger Bill ignores the greatest strength of our American Democracy. The CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT that Americans maintain, even during wartime, to debate, discuss and advocate peacefully for almost whatever we please.
Here's his passage that stood out to us and a link to his post in its entirety:
"There is, naturally, anger among Israelis and anger among Palestinians, and anger always complicates rational discussion and understanding. Coming to some common understanding about what constitutes antisemitism today may require the end of the current war."
