Kansas City Endures EPIC Decline In Affordable Housing Availability

Conventional wisdom from some TV show that was quoting a mostly forgotten American author: 

"Buy land, they're not making any more of it." 

Maybe . . .

Then again . . . That kind of practical thinking never imagined that paper money powering global economies would be backed by nothing more than a promise. 

But I digress . . .

Right now we take a peek at discouraging stats for people who want permanent shelter from the cold.

Turns out local "affordable" dwelling space endured a serious decline in 2023.

"Redfin determined that only 15.5% of homes for sale in 2023 were affordable for the typical U.S. household — the lowest share on record. In Kansas City, about 28% of homes for sale in 2023 were affordable, down from about 43% in 2022. The 14.8 percentage point decline outpaced all the other metro areas that Redfin looked at."

Kansas City faced a precipitous drop in the share of affordable homes on the market in 2023 compared to 2022. It was the biggest decline in affordable listings across all the metro areas in the U.S. that Redfin analyzed.
