Kansas City 2023 Homicide #182: Police Investigate Deadly Gunfire At End Of 2023

Tragically apropos for tonight . . . 

The last news item we'll post at the end of the deadliest year in Kansas City, Missouri history is documentation of ANOTHER local killing.

Here is the first report: 

Homicide 10700 Oakland

Tonight just before 9pm officers were called to the intersection of 107th and Oakland on a medical/EMS call.

Passers by saw the victim down on the ground with unknown injuries and called for help.

On arrival officers located the victim, an unknown male, unresponsive down on the sidewalk on the north side of 107th St.

Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased at that time.

Investigation indicates the victim appears to have been shot.

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene to gather evidence and get any information about what led up to the shooting.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
