Kansas City 2023 Homicide #175: Teen Dies After Gunfire In Northeast

With the holiday season underway Kansas City confronts another tragic milestone . . . 

ONLY HALFWAY THROUGH DECEMBER, WE'RE FIVE MURDERS AWAY FROM BREAKING ANOTHER HISTORIC HOMICIDE RECORD!!!

Again, when we factor in the previous record in 2020 . . . KCMO hasn't ever witnessed this level of local violence in recorded history.

Homicide St. John and White

On 12/15/23 just after 7:00pm officers were dispatched to the intersection of St. John and White on a reported shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and were flagged down to a nearby residence. When officers entered the home they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital. The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown.

A person of interest has not been identified and police do not currently have anyone in custody. Detectives do not believe there is a continued threat to the public or surrounding areas.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements.

This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

One person was shot to death Friday night at St. John Boulevard and White Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.

KCPD identifies 14-year-old killed in shooting in area of St. John, White Ave.

Police responded to a shooting call shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night in the area of St. John and White Ave.
