Will You Join Jackson County Exec's Campaign Against Use Tax?!?

Local politics makes for strange bedfellows and to start the week we have a WEIRD juxtaposition that deserves a peek . . .

The basics . . .

JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE'S TEAM DISLIKES THE USE TAX & THEY'RE CONDUCTING A WHISPER CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE EFFORT!!!

A quick punch line . . .

Right now a great many of the "Recall Frank White" volunteers are, in fact, supporting the Jackson County Exec's team in their efforts to put down the levy.

I'm not sure if that's irony or just another example of our dysfunctional local politics.

Local news did a lousy job of explaining this so we'll try to do it better . . .

The Jackson County Legislature is the main force driving the use tax effort. The Jackson County Exec's office didn't like their ballot issue, he vetoed it and they had to override to get it on the ballot.

A funding dispute was the main point of contention . . .

The Exec's team didn't want any constraints on the cash . . . The Legislature allots most of the use tax toward courthouse maintenance with far too generous allocations also going to the homeless.

And so . . .

Team Frank is hoping for conservative voters to deliver him a victory against his opposition on the Legislature whilst supporters of the Use Tax don't give much credence to a smattering of social media opposition in an election wherein low turnout is expected.
