Prairie Village Residents Call Upon Mayor Mikkelson To Diffuse 'Extremist' Accusations

In one of the most irresponsible moves we've witnessed this year in the smallish world of community journalism . . . The Kansas City Star recently helped a local progressive activist denounce his neighbors as "extremists" in a column about neighborhood zoning.

Mind you . . .

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SUBURBAN BUILDING PERMITS AND NOT PARADING THROUGH THE CAPITOL WITH THE Q ANON SHAMAN!!!

Sadly, for some dead-tree media workers and many suburban activists . . . Culture war has blinded their perceptions so badly that they're not able to communicate with neighbors without using the same kind of toxic language taught to them by the not-so-great people working at MSNBC.

On the other side of this one . . .

We've been watching the Stop PV Rezone group and they've been far more inclusive toward everyone in their community and their grassroots work has paid off with more people joining their cause.

However . . .

It takes help to speak with any community.

Accordingly . . . TKC clipped this note which asks Mayor Eric Mikkelson to join with his constituents in order to turn the volume down on bombastic accusations made with the help of the newspaper and achieve some level of mutual understanding.

Here's the word that has been shared across social media . . .

"To the mayor of Prairie Village, will you come out at Monday evenings council meeting and disavow the unconscionable words labeling thousands of residents as right wing extremists from an author published in the Oct. 31st KC Star? The same author that has a social media page ridiculing PV residents where your own wife and several council members condone his content? Or is the "being civil" and "respect each other during this campaign season" speech you give before public comments just meant for one side. My guess is that you'll remain silent."
