Given that locals seem powerless to prevent the trend . . . It seems like it.

Here's one story wherein even the freebie locks given away by police didn't help to thwart the trend . . .

Her first KIA was a 2012 model that was broken into multiple times. She was concerned about getting another KIA, but it was passed on to her from her mother.

When she tried to get comprehensive insurance she was denied.

A more dangerous trend . . .

The local lawlessness helped spark even worse crime given that Kia Boyz grew more ambitious and quickly realized stolen cars could create opportunities for even more profitable crime than property destruction and joyriding.
