Kansas City 2023 Homicide Count Remains At #171 After Deadly Gunfire

Update on an early morning homicide as the quotient of local violence continues to escalate.

Again . . .

Kansas City remains less than 10 homicides from breaking ANOTHER all-time record for deadly violence.

Homicide 1930 block of Park Tower Dr

On 11/28/2023 just after 12 am, officers were dispatched to 1930 block of Park Tower Dr on a reported sounds of shots.

Upon arrival, officers were notified a shooting had occurred and were directed inside an apartment where they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.  There is no one in custody at this time and we have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
