Kansas City 2023 Homicide #172: Police Investigate 2nd Killing Today

Once again deadly gunfire leave a victim dead in a local residential yard. 

Again . . . Something to consider . . . 

UNOFFICIALLY, KANSAS CITY MOVES CLOSER OUT SECOND RECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR HOMICIDES!!!

Near the end of November . . . We've already outpaced last year's total.

Homicide 4900 Block of Heritage

On 11/28/2023 just after 4 pm, officers were dispatched to 4900 block of Heritage Ave on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to an Adult male, lying in the yard suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Officers administered life saving measures until EMS arrived and took over. EMS subsequently pronounced the victim deceased.

The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.  There is subject of interest in custody and we have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Man dies in shooting Tuesday afternoon in 4900 block of Heritage Avenue in KCMO

Police in Kansas City, Missouri, responded to a deadly shooting Tuesday evening. The shooting unfolded about 4:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of Heritage Avenue, police said.
