Kansas City Police Investigate Child Found Dead Downtown

Local tragedy keeps getting worse . . .

UPDATE: In what looks like a homicide scene to us, police investigate what they're calling a "suspicious death" and asking for the public's help . . .

Here's the first report from the scene today with more info to follow . . .

1000 Grand Blvd

On 11/27/2023 just after 11 am, officers were dispatched to 10th and Grand on a reported medical nature unknown.

Upon arrival, officers located a young male juvenile suffering from apparent bodily trauma. EMS was on scene and pronounced the juvenile deceased.

Detectives are actively investigating and the circumstances leading up to this incident are unknown at this time.  Detectives are preliminary investigating this as a suspicious death.

There is no one in custody at this time and we have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

The body of a young boy with bodily harm was found behind an apartment complex near 10th Street and Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, police said.
