Candidate Forum Set for Hotly Contested City Council Races in Prairie Village
PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — With interest in local government running high in Prairie Village, residents will be electing six City Council members in November.
To give voters a chance to hear directly from their City Council candidates before voting, local citizens from the group PV United have organized a candidate forum to be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse.
All candidates have been invited and will be given time for opening and closing remarks, as well as the opportunity to answer questions submitted by audience members.
This comes after thousands of Prairie Village residents signed citizen petitions earlier this year in an effort to protect the existing zoning framework in single-family neighborhoods and to modernize the size of the governing body. Public votes on the citizen petitions have been delayed following legal actions initiated by the City Council, making the council seats the marquee contests on city residents’ November ballots.
KCMO Talk Radio’s Pete Mundo will moderate the forum. Members of the media are invited to attend.
