Don't quibble with TKC about our post title . . .

Here's REAL NEWS for our loyal readers . . .

Kauffman Foundation has been VERY SUPPORTIVE of efforts that will likely decommission KCPS in the very near future.

Frankly, it would be a mercy killing.

Accordingly . . . Here's the most important local dude who will be leading the charge who is EXTREMELY SMART and well-credentialed inasmuch as the word salad he offered put TKC right to sleep in the midst of cranking out this post from info sent our way by VERY KICK-ASS smarter people who know this kinda thing is important . . . Background info for your files . . .

"Maurice Watson is a Harvard-educated lawyer who has worked on education and civil rights issues since the early 1980s. His work began in the office of Senator John Danforth (R-MO) before moving to the law firm Blackwell Sanders (later Husch Blackwell), where he became the partner and relationship manager for Kansas City Public Schools. In 2012, Watson was named chairman of the firm, making him the first African American to head a major law firm in Missouri – and the third to do so in the country. Throughout his legal career, he served on many nonprofit Boards and saw that philanthropy is a way for communities to make systemic, long-term changes. That’s why he founded Credo Philanthropy Advisors in 2018, when he transitioned away from law and became a socially responsible investment advisor."
