KANSAS CITY 12TH & OAK POLITICOS PIT NEIGHBORHOODS AGAINST EACH OTHER IN ORDER PUSH LANDFILL SOLUTIONS!!!
Actually . . . It's worse than that . . . There are "racial undertones" to this story that are long standing.
Example:
Generally, we support Congressman Cleaver for a lot of reasons but one of them is that most of his opponents have been cringe-y at best.
However . . .
Anyone who REALLY knows his record as Mayor remembers that he dumped a HUGE landfill out in the Northland at the end of his tenure in one of the worst instances of political disconnect and payback for a community that never really supported his tenure.
And so . . . We see history repeating itself with this bit of advocacy . . . Look closely:
Third district councilwoman Melissa Robinson said cleanups on Saturdays get trash out of her district temporarily, but aren't a long-term solution.
"This isn't normal. We can't keep doing these things. We need a landfill," she said. "We need to have relationships with the private industry to help us solve these challenges."
