Kansas City Bike/Walk Bridge Cost Skyrockets To 10 MILLION BUCKS!!!

This morning KICK-ASS insiders share behind the scenes info with our blog community about local construction prices spiraling out of control.

To wit . . .

COSTS FOR KANSAS CITY'S AMBITIOUS GRAND BLVD PEDESTRIAN & BIKE BRIDGE HAVE SPIKE TO 10 MILLION BUCKS!!!

Don't worry . . . It gets worse . . .

TRANSIT ADVOCATES DESPERATELY SEARCH FOR MORE TOY TRAIN CASH AFTER HOPES TO IMPROVE KC CURRENTS STADIUM ACCESS PROVE COSTLY!!!

Long story short:

Federal funding for streetcars is drying up but cowtown toy train continues spending EPIC sums in order to boost lady soccer.

By the way . . .

10 million bucks is a conservative estimate . . . Again, the inside scoop is about this add-on is that there's now there's a behind the scenes schism betwixt streetcar supporters and the Bike/walk crew over a dwindling supply of money and priorities for riverfront development.

The only thing we know for certain is that hope/hype for this project is likely to exceed public interest for women's soccer if similar schemes across the nation offer any hint.

The real gambit here is to convince taxpayers and the feds to keep throwing money away down by the river in order to help a casino, real estate developers and billionaires looking to venture into the world of politically correct pro-sports.

And so . . . Here's the KCMO description of this walkway dream that's now confronting an economic reality check . . .

The Grand Boulevard bike/ped bridge project will add a pathway or pair of pathways to the outside of the existing bridge. This will be a Grand Bridge Exhibitdedicated facility for bicyclists and pedestrians, separate from vehicular traffic and the future KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension.

This bike/ped connection is planned to be constructed in coordination with the future KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension project, and the project is outlined in and supported by the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension study.

A portion of the project funds for design and construction are provided by voter-approved GO Bonds in the amount of $2,500,000,

$1,750,000 from the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, and $4,000,000 in FTA 5307 funds from the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.

Developing . . .
