Jackson County Property Tax Spike Pause Until Appeals Resolved?!?!

Here's a hopeful note and one of the best moves we've seen/heard from the courthouse as of late.

Behind the scenes . . . This might be another sign that the Legislature has all but abandoned any cooperation with the Exec and seeks to handle this hot mess on their own.

And so . . .

GIVEN THE BUSTED ASSESSMENT PROCESS, WAITING FOR APPEALS IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!

Check the legislation and its progress . . .

As of Oct. 3, 22,000 property owners were waiting for their appeals cases to be resolved.

At the legislatures regular meeting, Legislator Manny Abarca IV introduced resolution 21419. The resolution will now go to a committee for further review before a formal vote.

The legislation calls on the Board of Equalization to resolve all appeals before the county mails tax notices.

If the BOE isnt able to to resolve the cases, the resolution asks the county to send bills to taxpayers awaiting an appeal based on their 2022 property value.
