For many locals the Jackson County Property Tax Assessment process was exceptionally degrading.
After sketchy initial assessments, many residents decided to invite assessors into their homes in order to take photos and conduct an assessment.
Somewhere in courthouse files there MIGHT be a photo of TKC in sweatpants eating a snack cake whilst typing furiously in my mom's basement. But our bloggy problems are minuscule when compared to the hardship endured by so many others who needed help but didn't get it from assessment officials.
INSIDERS & POLITICOS CONFRONT MASSIVE COMPLAINTS AFTER ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENTS DIDN'T GARNER ANOTHER PROPERTY TAX APPEAL!!!
We're going to share more follow-up but for now we wanted to share FIRST look at complaints and more deets about how this sketchy scenario is playing out.
Here's www.TonysKansasCity.com citizen journalism reporting by way of AWESOME insiders . . .
"More than 6,000 people requested interior inspections and thought that by requesting that, they automatically had a BOE appeal. But the County did not make it clear that they had to fill out another form, and none of these people got appeals that they thought they were having.
Obviously, why would someone let the County into their house to take photos if it were not to appeal their taxes?
"When the County Legislature has asked them to provide this, the Assessment and BOE staff haven’t given anything over.
"Apparently, the BOE is going to take this up at their procedural meeting this week . . ."
