We've highlighted the relevant snippet for the pleasure of TKC readers and because this cowtown doesn't really care about transit for urban communities . . . Local leaders are merely obsessed with paying for more touristy frou-frou . . . Check-it:

"The riverfront streetcar's $34.9 million budget breaks down into $20.7 million from a federal BUILD grant and Federal Transit Administration formula funds, plus $8.5 million from Port KC, $4.75 million from the Streetcar Authority and $1 million from KCATA. A Port Improvement District around riverfront properties will support the future streetcar's operations and maintenance.

"The extension previously was pegged at $25.7 million, before its initial 0.55-mile scope was stretched further east along the riverfront, closer to the Kansas City Current's future stadium."

Kansas City agencies are exploring millions of dollars in potential additional funding sources for the streetcar's extension to the Berkley Riverfront. Initial construction figures received earlier this year came in above the project's $34.9 million budget.
