A few things to consider about progress on a downtown project . . .
- Nearly 20-million in funding is merely PROMISED and we've seen those good intentions fade in KCMO over time. Remember when the new pet shelter PROMISED millions in donations if voters approved 2017 GO Bonds but then never delivered.
- There's not a lot of public love for this idea and NOBODY has answered concerns about security for the park.
- Most importantly remember that earlier this year the South loop was rejected for 60 MILLION bucks worth of federal funding.
Accordingly . . .
Despite the cash, this is still an uphill fight because it's really nothing more than an effort to boost luxury housing & hotel properties . . . Check-it:
So far, the project has lined up $28.6 million each from the federal and state governments, $10 million from the city, and $19 million in private donations.
If the tax credits are approved by the Missouri Development Finance Board, it’s projected to attract another $30 million in private support.
