Kansas City Launches $522 Million 'Equitable Development' Plan

Allow us a moment let the sticker shock take effect.

This kind of idiocracy requires a pause to savor.

The news FIRST on TKC . . .

KANSAS CITY COUNCIL LADY MELISSA ROBINSON ANNOUNCES HER 'EQUITABLE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN' COSTING MORE THAN HALF A BILLION BUCKS!!!

There's a lot to unpack here so we we'll start with the dox from AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS that help to tell the story . . .

Again, this is her plan so we'll let the council lady's quote start us on this journey . . . Check what she has to say . . .

"After four years of working and collaborating with residents and stakeholders to address blight and undesirable living conditions, Councilman Robinson announces a $522 Million dollar plan to transform conditions for historically disinvested areas in Kansas City . . .

"Robinson believes that results of comprehensive investments, over the next four years, will realize the City's long-awaited vision of a fair, just and equitable Kansas City. Kansas City has the potential to shape neighborhoods that benefit all residents irrespective of past decisions, racial inequities and socioeconomic conditions.

"We are poised to take action toward economic development that supports all residents, and ensure everyone can benefit from our growing economy," shared Robinson, Third District City Council Member. The goal of our equitable development plan is to transform the Third District into a place where all residents have access to economic opportunities, affordable living and cultural expression," continues Councilwoman Robinson. "

And so . . . Let's have a peek at the idea so far . . .

Insiders notice the plan is heavy on pix . . . They could have found a nicer shot of the council lady than this one . . .

And now we get to allocations . . . Notice the emphasis on housing handouts . . . And the pipe-dream that charities will pay for any of this . . .

The Youth Entertainment District could inspire a book . . . It's a scary idea that sounds like something out of Lord Of The Flies if it goes wrong . . . Here's the sketch:

We've seen "green" efforts and online charity promised but never take hold in the 3rd. And so here's a look at the effort to double down on the idea . . .

Check more cash plans sketched with very broad strokes . . . We notice as the money gets divided up that very little of it will make a dent in real problems confronted by this part of town . . .

Free cash for CIDs kind of misses the point . . . The taxing districts are supposed to pay for themselves and free money merely admits that the beloved local idea doesn't always work.

And now . . . A glimpse at further discussion on the way . . .

Again, we want to talk about this more but here's the basic reaction from insiders . . .

"Anybody who would vote for this would be voting to bankrupt Kansas City. The plan is based on nothing but handouts that have already proven unsuccessful in this community. More importantly, there just isn't this kind of money available in the city budget to accommodate half a BILLION dollars over four years."

And this is where we start to get worried . . .

THIS PLAN LOOKS LIKE PREP FOR WHAT COULD BE BOND ISSUE DISASTER FOR KANSAS CITY!!!

Presented to council and/or voters . . . There are political problems in debating this bad idea.

And that means we could see it confront voters and pass by way of a tiny segment of the electorate.

Accordingly . . .

We tell our friends . . .

This is how Detroit got to be Detroit.

It doesn't happen all and once . . . Municipal bankruptcy builds upon one bad decision that follows the next.

What's worse is that MSM is keeping this plan secret and it fell into our TKC bloggy filthy hands first after insiders fear that the campaign is building momentum.

Developing . . .
