Jackson County Exec Recall Effort Mobilizes More Volunteers

Insiders sent petition docs our way recently and we have a few takeaways . . .

RECALL EFFORTS AGAINST JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE HAVE EARNED SURPRISING PROGRESS!!!

We've heard their Labor Day efforts met with success and now insiders tell us . . .

AN ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS HOPING TO RECALL JACKSON COUNTY'S EXEC CONTINUES TO ADD NUMBERS!!!

Again . . . No matter the cause . . . We're always hopeful that more people participate in the political process and get off of the sofa and out into the streets.

Still . . .

We can't help but notice there is some GOP support behind this effort and it's our responsibility to be honest about this effort that claims to be nonpartisan but clearly has garnered support from the more conservative neighborhoods in Jackson County.

But here's the kicker . . .

WE HAVEN'T NOTICED MUCH DEMOCRATIC PARTY OR URBAN DEFENSE OF THE EMBATTLED EXECUTIVE!!!

At this point we expected somebody to call out the effort or at least express criticism of petitioners. That hasn't happened and the silence in defense of the Exec is telling.

Reality check . . . The whole county knows that the Exec has checked out for the remainder of his term and there aren't many diehard Frank White fans nowadays.

Nevertheless . . . We share cover letter & petition info with our readers so that we can all decide for ourselves . . .

Subject: Cover Sheet and Petition for Frank White Recall

I apologize if you are getting this more than once. But it is time to mobilize the effort to RECALL our County Executive FRANK WHITE, JR!

Attached is a cover sheet explaining what we are doing, and the other sheet is the petition to sign. Anyone in either party persuasion may take these forms and get signature from their neighbors, stand at a store or at a football game. Don’t be annoying, but anywhere you are allowed.

ONLY REGISTERED VOTERS in Jackson County will count towards the 43,000 signatures needed to recall Frank White, Jr.! Our goal is 60,000 to cover anyone signing it that turns out to be a non-voter. It’s also important that the use the name exactly as they registered to vote.

EACH SIGNATURE GATHERER is responsible for getting their own sheets notarized. Anyone may go to a Community America Credit Union, and they will notarize for you, if your own bank won’t. Once you are done with the notary, please deliver the notarized sheets to our Republican HQ, to Dawn ######### home or to the Chairman’s home. We are looking for other locations to be a drop off. We need one in Independence and one in Lee’s Summit. If you are willing to help us organize on the back end, it is appreciated.

Here are some points that need clarified:

1) Questions about the legitimacy of the petition. This petition was drawn up by an attorney.

2) There is no 60-day time-frame restriction in the county charter. We can collect signatures until we are done.

3) We do not need to separate the election boards in collection. Kansas City residents can sign as well as Jackson County residents on the same form.

4) On needing permission or guidance from the legislature. The charter does not give very much guidance. The charter is the way it is, apparently on purpose. We do not need permission. If the legislature provides further guidance and clarification on Sept 18, its intent will be to enhance what we are doing not inhibit us. We are doing this independently as the people of Jackson County.
