Super Dave Review: 'C’mon Funk Move Your Ass'

As an avid reader of books covering many areas of literature, about four weeks ago I finished reading Gloria Squitiro’s book, C’mon Funk Move Your Ass: How a Demure Little Wife Made Her Husband a Big City Mayor (C'mon Funk Book 2). I am sure I have read books harder to read in my life but this is probably pretty close to being in my top 10 list of such. Not that I’m a huge reader of books from the Biographies of Social Scientists & Psychologists category to begin with. Yes, that is the category of this book and I am guessing so to get a higher rating. Well that backfired as it isn’t listed in the top 100 of such and has less than 30 reviews as of last I looked on Amazon and 16 of those got free books and probably are friends.  This book screams of, Hey I’m Gloria Squitiro, dig me I am cool as I was the queen of the double wide located on the westside with bad carpet and leaking ceilings.

C’mon Funk Move Your Ass isn’t a story as much as it is a day to day diary in chronological order of what took place leading up to Mark Funkhouser being elected mayor of Kansas City, MO.

This isn’t a story about Mark running for political office per say as much as it’s a story all about Gloria explaining how hard it was on Gloria to do so many things when it was clear Gloria really was the captain of the ship not Mark. Gloria tries to make it seem like Mark’s in charge but that’s not how this reader sees it at all. No it was pretty much about Gloria all the way. What is really shocking in my view is that here was a man running for the office of Mayor with his wife running the show or campaign behind the scenes quite obviously while being very condescending to those around her including her husband and staff members she claims are bitches.  All through the book Gloria continuously refers to Mark as a hick, a bastard, a hick from West Vagina, as well an asshole and is rude. But oh it gets even better than that as she refers to another person as an engorged tick then turns around and refers to their mother as Little Tick Mother. Dana Laiben and I have crossed paths in years gone by and I was appalled by her being referred to as Labia. This all comes from a lady who makes it very clear nobody messes with her family, your family, well that’s a different story and set of rules. Don’t believe what I’ve stated here, then read the book as what I have pointed out is only the tip of the iceberg.

If the sex life of the Funkhouser/ Squitiro marriage trips your trigger then you must read this book or avoid this book as it has a lot in it from doublewide sex to the big whopper and actions heard by the youngest who is grossed out by it all. You must read how Gloria tells Funk to go pleasure himself. It’s clear the Funkhouser/ Squitiro relationship might dance to a different tune than most do. How many husbands tell the newly wed wife who is off to college to have fun, date and have sex if you desire. The best one is Mark telling Gloria, “Stick with me babe and you’ll be farting through silk.” Okay I’ll end his subject with that and you’ll have to read the book if you desire more down and weird.

One has to understand this is a book written by an author who clearly is in love with herself but at the same time lists a wide range of issues they have from fear of flying to opening admitting in this book all her tribulations with therapy and staff who never hung around. As per her book she is known to exaggerate things and admits her own son said she was embarrassing.    

A third book is in the making or so is being said and I’m looking forward to seeing how Gloria twists the events that took place at 12th and Oak. Makes you wonder if she’ll go into detail about having sex in the big office?
 
Inquiring minds don’t really want to know.
