Publicity Hungry KC Tenants Demand 'Municipal Social Housing' Projects

Let's start this story with a bit of cowtown blogger speculation . . .

TKC is partly responsible for a recent segment on one of the most popular Internets news shows for slightly younger audiences . . . Or middle-aged people who haven't yet given up their soul to NPR or Fox News.

Follow me here because it's fun . . .

Mayor Q's people are so disconnected with everything but Beltway gossip that they don't really know much beyond standard social media tricks . . . Yes, THAT'S A BOT shouting you down when you challenge most local politicos!!!

And, once again for the cheap seats . . .

MAYOR Q IS KC TENANTS & KC TENANTS IS MAYOR Q DESPITE THEIR PHONY INFREQUENT FIGHTS!!!

Back to our story . . .

Last year we had a brief conversation with one of Mayor Q's staffers and mentioned our admiration of Philly D as a standard that we would never attain.

About 9 months later . . . We notice a beefy but totally unlikely segment on the DeFranco show about KC Tenants in an otherwise busy news week.

Maybe it's coincidence . . . Or maybe the Mayor's peeps listened more intently than I had planned and extended their reach just a bit further.

TKC doesn't like to brag but we TOTALLY gave them the idea for this pitching this deep dive.

A few things about the EXCEPTIONAL segment that deserve mention . . .

- KC Tenants have ruined the KC rental market . . . Seriously, if you're not a major corporation then forget about doing rental business inside KC proper . . . Not many people can afford to lose 1 year's rent and thanks to this group, that's now how long it takes for a standard eviction. Sadly, not everybody who can't pay their rent is a hero despite the protestations of this activist group.

- There's a glowing mention of KC Tenants Power but still no word about how their lone council victory was powered by dark money and HISTORICALLY LOW VOTER TURNOUT that didn't really signal a mandate at all.

- The Northeast housing victory touted by KC Tenants . . . That was just a city takeover that KEPT PEOPLE IN A SLUM . . . Housing advocates with more experience have explained what a mistake that was and the situation is ultimately horrific because activists incorrectly believe that keeping people living in squalor is some kind of heroic crusade.

Finally . . .

Credit to Philly D for parsing so much data and getting down to the crux of the debate . . .

KC TENANTS DEMANDS MORE "MUNICIPAL SOCIAL HOUSING" OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PROJECTS!!!

However . . .

CHUCK D TAUGHT US THAT PROJECT IS JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR EXPERIMENT AND THIS TYPE OF OLD SCHOOL HOUSING SCHEME DOESN'T NEED TO BE RECYCLED IN KCMO!!!

Large public housing projects have been out of favor in the United States for at least a generation because they're known to be breeding grounds for crime, drugs and desperation.

Slightly newer efforts like Section 8 and other forms of subsidized housing have garnered favor over jamming po'folk into huge chicken coop apartment buildings at letting nature take its course.

And so . . .

If fancy new names for housing projects is what KC Tenants have planned . . . Then THEY REALLY AREN'T THE GOOD GUYS and likely just serve as useful idiots for partisan forces ramping up election season rhetoric with empty promises of freebies to the plebs.

Still . . . Any publicity is good publicity and for those who REALLY want to understand the direction of housing issues in Kansas City . . . This clip is totes worthwhile . . .
