This is a big deal to a lot of residents if only because 12th & Oak often turns a cold shoulder to this enclave. Sadly, that tradition continues . . . However, this time there's a bit more resistance.

"At last week’s Kansas City (Mo) Council meeting, the ordinance to fund the construction of a swimming pool at either Jarboe Park or the Tony Aguirre Community Center did pass, but with an unexpected amendment from Mayor Quinton Lucas that funded only $2 million of the project, which carries an estimated $3 million price tag. Even worse, at least two councilmembers say they were blindsided by the amendment, thinking the full $3 million would be allocated. "
