Kansas City Streetcar Expansion Frustrates Frenchy Feast

For what's it's worth . . . French cuisine is a tough sell in this cowtown BBQ capital of the world. Sadly, streetcar expansion isn't making it any easier.

We'll have more on this but for now we wanted to THANK AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS for sending a couple of pix our way that offer a glimpse at recent damage to fancy European plans.  

To be blunt . . .

KANSAS CITY STREETCAR EXPANSION HAS TURNED THE FRENCHY CORNER AT WESTPORT & MAIN INTO ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS INTERSECTIONS IN TOWN!!!

A word from the brave photog who sent these pix . . . 

"Whoever designed this needs to adjust their meds. They're nearly sending traffic into a head on collision. From a distance it looks like a demilitarized zone but up close it's just not some place you would ever want to be after dark. The food must be EXCELLENT because I did see more than a few people in both of these restaurants." 

 That rings true . . . Here's the setup a recent Pitch write-up and a glimpse at the French connection on this cowtown corner for Westport & Main:

"Cheval, just opened across the street from Tailleur as a sister establishment, with a focus on cocktails, wine, and small plates. 

“We started noticing that guests with reservations at Tailleur would arrive early, hoping to grab a drink at the bar and chat before their meal,” restaurateur Heather White says. “We just didn’t have room for them! I had to send them down the street to other cocktail bars.” 

"Instead of sitting back and lamenting, White did what she always does—she came up with a no-brainer of a solution. She wanted Cheval to be a place guests could enjoy before or after their meal at Tailleur, but anyone is welcome to take a seat—there are no reservations."

I'm pretty sure she's not making that suggestion nowadays . . . Anybody looking to cross this street after a few drinks probably has a death wish.
