Kansas City Playlist: Living Under Oppressive Heatwave Coverage

It's August and that typically means scorching temperatures in Kansas City for as long as most of us can remember.

Sadly . . . The demands of the news cycle and political concerns have forced MSM to amplify their coverage.

OR . . . Maybe this just the last 12 installments of "As The World Burns" according to AOC.

Either way . . .

From sketchy "heat index" numbers to very real danger for people outside . . . We can only encourage our blog community to stay cool in thought & deed even as the climate change news reaches seemingly unbearable levels.

A few examples to consider locally & globally . . .

Kansas City reaches highest heat index in the country

A blistering heat wave is sweeping through the Kansas City Metro area as temperatures continue to rise.

This number is so high it might've inspired panicked call to send money AND A/C . . .

Saturday's heat index in Lawrence reaches 126 degrees

After several days of predicted high temperatures and heat indices, the heat dome arrived Saturday across Kansas City.

Big picture . . .

Report: Record heat "virtually impossible" without climate change

Failing to rein in greenhouse gas emissions will result in far more extreme heat events, scientists warn.

Again . . .

We're not certain if "the science" is settled BUT all of this has inspires our TKC heatwave playlist tonight . . .

Honestly, it's remarkable how well Martha & the Vandellas' classic "Heatwave" holds up over time . . . It's still a fun song that speaks to American Summer traditions for one generation after the next . . .

Gen-Xers might remember this one from their youth . . . And we only post it because nobody puts sax solos in pop songs anymore . . .

This one should make our elder millennial friends feel old . . . STL rapper Nelly's top ranking single is NOW 20 YEARS OLD . . . Take a peek as #HipHop50 is finally starting to show its age . . .

A fun fact . . . EVERYBODY was a scumbag in 1999 . . . This Summer anthem by Len proves it . . .

Finally, we finish with a rock anthem that most people won't admit they kinda enjoy and only crank when the A/C is blasting and windows are rolled up . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night . . .
