Kansas City 2023 Homicide #125: Police Arrest Suspect After Deadly Gunfire

Our tragic pace of cowtown killing continues along a record breaking pace as we record another deadly shooting on Sunday.

Here's the first report . . .

Homicide 3600 block of Norton

This evening just before 6pm officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Norton on a reported Shooting.

Upon arrival, officers were summoned inside of a nearby residence where they located and adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers immediately began life-saving measures until EMS could respond and take over. Upon EMS arrival the victim was declared deceased.

The preliminary investigation is believed the victim and an additional adult male were inside of the residence when shots were fired inside of the home.

An adult male was taken into custody at the scene, and no additional persons of interest are believed to be involved at this time.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and will begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. This investigation is considered ongoing at this time.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

KCPD investigating fatal shooting in 3600 block of Norton Avenue

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department responded shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting in the 3600 block of Norton Avenue.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were directed to a home where they discovered an adult male victim who had been shot.
