
This morning we learn that Kansas City, Missouri is moving right along a record breaking pace set in 2020 and the deadly spike in violence over last year is slowly moving closer to 25% YTD.

Homicide 2500 block E 9th St
This evening just before 11:30pm officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of E 9th St on a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive juvenile teen male lying in a business parking lot unresponsive. The victim appeared to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Responding officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and took over life saving measures. EMS declared the victim deceased a short moment later.
The early stages of the investigation advise a sound of shots could be heard outside of a business coming from an unknown direction, at which time the victim was struck.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded and are processing the scene for evidence. Detectives will be speaking with any potential witnesses as well to discover what may have led up to the shooting occurring.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Teen boy killed in overnight homicide
