Kansas City 2023 Homicide #122: Man Shot Dead In Front Yard Overnight

A late night deadly shooting investigation spikes the local murder count once yet again . . . The tragic number jumps forward following a late death yesterday as KCMO continues along a RECORD BREAKING PACE which threatens to eclipse the deadliest year in local history.

Homicide 59th and Virginia

Tonight about 11:40pm officers were dispatched to the area of 59th and Paseo on a sound of gunshots call.

On arrival to the area officers were directed to the front yard of a residence near 59th and Virginia where they located a male shooting victim, unresponsive.

Officers began rendering aid to the victim until EMS arrived and took over treatment.  EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased.

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Man killed in overnight homicide near 59th and Virginia

Kansas City Police found a man who had been shot in the front yard of a home about 11:40 p.m. He died at the hospital.
