
The latest local killing pushes the KCMO homicide count upward once again.
As of this writing there's is now a 27% spike in Kansas City killing year to date. And right now KCMO has 5% more homicides for 2023 than on the same calendar date in 2020 — The deadliest year in Kansas City history.
Here's the first report from the deadly shooting early this morning . . .
Homicide 6000 block of Indiana
This morning just after 3am officers were called to the 6000 block of Indiana on a sound of shots call.
While officers were on the way the call was updated to a shooting call, someone shot inside a house.
When they arrived, officers were directed inside a residence there where they located an adult male, unresponsive, who appeared to have been shot.
Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over. EMS declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates there were three people, all adults, inside a residence when shots came from outside the residence and the victim was struck.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene and canvassing for witnesses at this time.
