Celebration Of Life After Tragic Crash Killed Teen On Metcalf

This morning hundreds of people marked the death of 17-year-old Will Ensley, a promising student and Shawnee Mission Northwest swimmer who was killed in a chain-reaction crash along Metcalf Avenue on July 26.

Former Kansas City DJ Kelly Urich has been sharing his insights into aftermath of the accident and we rely on his kind words shared with fans & followers . . .

The life celebration service was beautiful. We talked great memories and it was heartwarming to view all of his state swimming awards & accomplishments. This was the little kid I spent an entire afternoon trying to help get the courage to dive off the dock in our lake. Maybe a 1 foot dive at best. He certainly figured out what I clearly couldn’t teach.

I don’t have any answers on this one but two takes:

1. Hug your kids every day and take photos of the good times. Tell them you love them. Keep saying it.    

2.  Pay attention while you’re driving.  Pay attention. We we’re almost sideswiped by a lady on her phone after leaving the service. Pay attention.  

Keeping Will, Jack, Sharon & Randall in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. A scholarship will be set up in his name and I hope everyone will support. He is missed and our neighborhood has been forever changed.
