TKC Readers Question Congressman Cleaver's Discounts To Save The Earth

A recent note from KC's top ranking politico earned a few scoffs from TKC readers . . .

The best note sent our way:

"This is laughable, ridiculous. How many of Cleaver's constituents can afford solar panels, electric vehicles, upgraded hypermodern (and therefore probably ineffective) appliances?

"What a clown show."

Nevertheless . . . We share the word and wish our readers productive shopping to save the Earth . . .

EC From D.C. Newsletter: How The Inflation Reduction Act Can Help Lower Your Energy Bills

As the summer heat bears down on Missouri, I wanted to share some ways to lower your energy costs while we try to keep cool in Missouri's Fifth Congressional District. Last year, I helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which was the largest investment in American history to combat the climate crisis. It does this largely by creating tax incentives to lower costs and encourage more people to use sustainable, energy efficient forms of household items we use in everyday life.

Because of this legislation, Missouri families are eligible for hundreds of dollars a year in energy savings, and I wanted to share three ways in which you can benefit:

- Covering 30% of solar panel installation costs. Not only do residential solar panels help to lower your carbon footprint, but some estimates show that households can save up to $1,500 per year in energy bills once the solar panels are installed.

- Lowering the cost of electric vehicles. With tax credits of up to $7,500 for new cars, and $4,000 for used cars, you can save on your next vehicle purchase while ensuring you don't have to worry about volatile gas prices.

- Providing up to $8,000 to upgrade to energy efficient electric appliances like heat pump water heaters, clothes dryers, and more.

And if you're not sure where to start, that's okay! Missouri families are also eligible for up to $150 off a professional home energy audit, which will help you map out the best ways to save money and energy in your home.

The tax credits created by the Inflation Reduction Act are already in effect. If you want to learn more about how you can access these tax rebates, lower your costs, and start saving, then visit the IRS website or a webpage my office put together here today. As always, if you need assistance in dealing with the IRS or any other federal agency, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office.

Sincerely,
Emanuel Cleaver, II
Member of Congress
