Kansas City 2023 Homicide #105: Woman Shot Dead Overnight

The Kansas City homicide crisis continues with a 31% increase in homicides over last year and a 5% spike over 2020; the deadliest year in KCMO history.

To start Tuesday morning, Kansas City remains on a record-breaking homicide pace.

Here's the latest fatality report . . .

Homicide 2600 block of Lawn

Just before 11pm officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Lawn on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed inside a residence there where they located an adult female, unresponsive, who appeared to have been shot.

Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.

Arriving officers detained one person of interest who was at the scene when officers arrived for further investigation.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.

Detectives are not searching for any additional suspects at this time.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
