"Most of the people I see being interviewed on TV are older and may not realize what's happened with home values. That said, the Missouri House and Senate have passed legislation that would allow counties to cap property taxes for those who are 65 or older at the amount they paid when they reached age 65. The same legislation also exempts Social Security from being taxed by the state. It's awaiting the governor's signature, and it's been waiting for more than a month.
