The home, auto and small business insurer in March 2020 moved 90% of its overall workforce to full-time virtual work, where it said its teams "consistently (demonstrated) effectiveness in serving customers" and employees appreciated greater flexibility.
The company employs more than 1,500 people in Olathe and about 22,000 nationwide. More than 25% of Farmers employees in the Kansas City area already worked full-time remote before the pandemic — a figure that exceeded 95% by April 2022.
That's poised to change under new leadership from Raul Vargas, who succeeded Jeff Dailey as Farmers' CEO in January.
