Lukas Wine & Spirits Superstore Sells Out Kansas City Metro Boozehounds

For the saucy denizens of our blog community . . . This might be the most important news of the year; at least until the next blackout, short stint at rehab and inevitable relapse.

Soundtrack for this post . . .

LUKAS WIN & SPIRITS SUPERSTORE SOLD OUT!!!

One of the smartest people we've ever met doing this blog sends us a COMPREHENSIVE & KICK-ASS behind the scenes look at the situation BEFORE Kansas City Star reporter Joyce Smith can hide it behind the dead-tree paywall.

Here's the inside word . . . Cheers . . .

"Locally owned Lukas Wine & Spirits Superstore has sold to Total Wine & More - the giant chain that was planning to enter the market in the coming months. Facing an unprecedented booze battle, Total Wine decided to buy a peaceful entry into the market instead of a blood bath, the latter of which would have benefited consumers. This deal only benefits "Big Booze" and means that yet another local business is no longer local."

In fairness, this might be a better deal for workers and investors who HOPEFULLY will get something out of the purchase as they continue pushing one of many legal drugs on local streets.

Update message from the biz:

"Our Missouri stores are still locally owned, just the Kansas store sold."

Americans are drinking as much alcohol now as in Civil War days

"During stressful times people tend to drink more," Hilary Sheinbaum, author of "The Dry Challenge," told The Post. "People want to turn to a vice to relax them."
