There's less than two weeks to go until election day and a recent council action sparked controversy and frustration behind the scenes.
Thankfully, our blog community is here to help explain the sitch.
To wit . . .
LEADERS OF THE NORTHLAND COUNCIL BLOC ADVISE THAT THEY WERE CONNED INTO VOTING FOR "CAMERON LAMB DAY" AMID POLICE SUPPORTER OUTRAGE!!!
We admit . . . The decision was curious but the explanation makes sense.
Here's the word from a trusted insider . . .
"TKC, you should tell people how this stuff really works. This item thrown at us at the last minute with 20 pieces of legislation on our desks. We noticed a bunch of people hanging around but that happens a lot during the Summer. Have to admit . . . We forgot about the Cameron Lamb and before we knew it, the resolution was rushed through. Most of those Northland votes were given out of reflex and not any REAL support. I suspect that at least one of the South Side council members didn't enthusiastically go along with this resolution either. This whole thing was timed to put pressure on the Missouri AG during the appeal process for DeValkenaere and OBVIOUSLY we don't want any part of that."
A few things to consider . . .
Our police supporter friends should realize that the resolution is merely symbolic and doesn't really mean anything. Council members on the nice side of the bridge forgetting about a 2019 deadly police shooting is certainly plausible.
The argument about the AG's handling of the case is interesting . . . Until recently, most assumed that the Governor would pardon the former KCPD detective.
Because nobody REALLY pays attention to city hall non-binding resolutions . . . This word sent our way makes sense and offers a glimpse into the sausage-making of 12th & Oak legislation.
Developing . . .
