
The weekend started with violence inside the loop and not so far from the police station & city hall.

Locals are now enduring a 29% spike in homicides year to date and we're even outpacing 2020 numbers -- The deadliest year in KCMO history.

Homicide 500 blk E 10th St
Tonight at about 9:15pm officers were dispatched to 500 E 10th on a shooting call.
When they arrived, officers located an adult male shooting victim, unresponsive, in the parking lot.
Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.
Investigation indicates that an interaction took place in the parking lot between the victim and one or more suspects that led to gunfire that struck the victim.
Responding officers did detain one subject of interest a short distance away from the scene for further investigation.
Crime Scene investigators and detectives are processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for witnesses.
If anyone was in or around the area at this time and saw or heard anything they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

The shooting was reported just before 9:20 p.m. in the area of E. 10th Street and Locust Street.

The shooting was reported at 9:19 p.m. on Friday night.
Kansas City on pace to break its homicide record
The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office provided FOX4 statistics that show as of Sunday, June 18, there had been 78 homicides in the Jackson County portion of Kansas City, Missouri.
