Kansas City 2023 Homicide #90: Death After Teen Double Shooting

We're not closing in on the homicide century mark only one day into Summer. 

Earlier this evening a shooting victim died of injuries sustained earlier in the week.

A few hours later . . . 

The homicide count hit 90 compared to only 71 last year. In 2020 the number was only 85 and that was the most violent year in recorded KCMO history. 

Here's the first report . . .

Homicide: 5200 block of East 100th Terrace

Tonight 8pm officers were dispatched to 5500 block of East 100th Terrace on a shooting call.

When they arrived they were led inside a residence there. Once inside they located one shooting victim unresponsive. Additional officers at the scene were notified that an additional shooting victim was located a short distance away down the street.

EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to the hospital for treatment.

The victim that was located inside the residence unresponsive was reported to have life threatening injuries

The Victim located down the street was reported to have non-life threatening injuries

A short time later the victim with life threatening injuries died at the hospital.

The victims have not been identified but are thought to be juvenile males in their teens.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred at the house officers were originally dispatched to on 100th Ter.

Police respond to deadly double shooting Wednesday night in south Kansas City

One person died and a second was injured in a shooting in south Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday night. The shooting unfolded in the 5500 block of e 100th Terrace just before 8 p.m.
