Kansas City 2023 Homicide #83: Police Find Gunfire Victim After Crash

Evening crime scene investigated by local police. TKC wants to share the first report as our KCMO homicide numbers continue to escalate over last year's deadly pace and threaten to overtake 2020 -- The deadliest year in local history . . . 

Homicide Linwood & Cleveland 

On 6/16/2023 just after 11 pm, officers were dispatched to Linwood and Cleveland Ave on an injury accident. While enroute the call was upgraded to a shooting.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male lying next to a vehicle crashed into a building. EMS was on scene performing life saving measures and declared the victim deceased.

There is no one on custody at this time. The circumstances surrounding the homicide are still being investigated.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
