Kansas City 2023 Homicide #79: Deadly East Side Front Porch Shooting Kills Teen

More midweek gunfire erupts this morning and pushes our historic homicide pace forward.

Here's the first report . . .

Homicide 8300 block of Wayne Ave

This morning at 5:37am, officers were called to the 8300 block of Wayne Ave in regard to a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a male juvenile (teen), suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near a residence.  EMS responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene for evidence and canvassing the area for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 816-234-5043. Or if you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

KCPD investigating after teen killed in shooting near 84th and Wayne Ave.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -A homicide investigation is underway after a teenager was shot and killed in south Kansas City Wednesday morning. Police were called to a home near East 84th Street and Wayne Avenue at 5:37 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they discovered a teenage boy with multiple gunshot wounds outside the home.
