
The spate of local violence continues to spike as we approach Summer and another Kansas City entertainment district confronts lethal danger to its patrons.
Unofficially, this is homicide #77 so far in 2023 compared to 76 at this time last year and 75 in May of 2020 - The deadliest year on record in Kansas City, Missouri.
Here's the first report . . .
Homicide 16th and Grand
This morning right at 1:30 am officers were dispatched to 16th and Grand on a shooting call.
On arrival they were directed to the parking lot area between 1610 and 1614 Grand where they located an adult male, who appeared to have been shot, unresponsive.
Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS to the scene for treatment.
EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased.
People in the area relayed they heard the sound of gunfire and saw the victim down at that location. They then called for police.
Detectives and crime scene personnel are canvassing the area and processing the scene for evidence.
Grand blvd was closed in both directions for a time during this investigation.

Kansas City police investigate homicide near T-Mobile Center
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are investigating an early morning homicide near T-Mobile center. Witnesses called 911 around 1:30 a.m. after hearing gunfire near 16th Street and Grand Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found a man in a parking lot suffering from gunshot injuries. The victim later died at a hospital.
Shooting in downtown Kansas City leaves 1 dead
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man was shot and killed in downtown Kansas City early Saturday morning. Police said officers were dispatched to the area of 16th and Grand Boulevard at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. There, they located a man who appeared to be shot. The man was unresponsive.
