Bill Nigro & Councilman Ellington Collab To Save Westport

We'll follow-up on this but more than anything we want to be FIRST to share a peek at Kansas City entertainment district legislation that answers a longstanding complaint from one of this cowtown's most dedicated neighborhood advocate.

Here's word from an insider . . .

"The Councilman will be proposing a new ordinance to abolish the Westport civil rights monitors and replace them with additional security to address the spree of violent crime going on."

Go even further behind the scenes with www.TonysKansasCity.com . . .

- Bill Nigro has been making noise about the "civil rights monitors" for years. It's basically just a payout scheme funding one of many anti-crime groups that don't seem to be very effective.

- Councilman Ellington giving voice to this concern is IMPRESSIVE and sponsoring legislation to provide security over culture war politics demonstrates that he understands the situation in Westport. Moreover, push back against East side political rivals signals Councilman Ellington thinking about the good of ALL KCMO over special interest factions.

- Most importantly, Westport working with the 3rd District is something that needs to happen more often and this is a good start to future collaboration.
